SPELLS

The self-described “vacation rock” band known as SPELLS is actually a punk band from Denver, CO that we felt deserved some notoriety. The purpose of the Don’t Work Any Harder campaign was to get SPELLS added to the Riot Fest lineup. The approach was to encapsulate the ethos of the band – full tilt, irreverent and somewhat slacker forward attitude.

DontWorkAnyHarder.com is a petition site designed to get supporters and fans excited about SPELLS and generate numbers that would get Riot Fest organizers to take note of one Denver’s best bands. Inspired by the band’s song “80% is Good Enough,” the site purposefully doesn’t ask much of the audience. Just add your name to the list and hit submit.

The same way the band is subverting the idea of “vacation”, we wanted to subvert the imagery of vacation and add a little destruction.

Don’t Work Any Harder campaign gained serious traction and was featured in Denver’s biggest music publication, Westword.

A little postcard to further the message… and absurdity of the campaign.

And since punk-rockers love buttons, we made some that fit the band’s attitude and subverted a pretty popular advertising slogan.
